Jon Somerscales is joining individually and seeking a specialized squad of “The Alchemists” and “The Systems Imagineers” to realize a metabolic vision. He is looking for:
Technical creatives, cyberneticists, and ML engineers.
Biological scientists, biotechnologists, and ecologists.
Acousticians and experiential designers.
Jon’s project hack idea revolves around 'holobiont/metabolic' imaginaries—inspired by the coral holobiont and its implications for human societal structures. He views the current era as unstable, where technologies often act upon us within out-of-control systems. His vision seeks new ways of relating to each other and the planet that are not brokered by incumbent systems, instead leveraging science that is finally catching up with indigenous intuition regarding nature's interactions. He is particularly inspired by recent breakthroughs in quantum biology, such as the engineering of quantum-enabled proteins in bacteria, which shift from observing quantum effects in nature to deliberately designing them for real-world use.
The New Human is...
The New Human is a holobiont entity. For Somerscales, this represents a shift away from human-centric worldviews toward a shared metabolic existence where technology, biology, and indigenous intuition converge to foster environmental stewardship.
