CURIOUSLY MINDED: LIVE CODING SHADERS
Saturday, Dec 12, 2020, 10:00am PST (2 hours) (check your timezone)
Part of the 10th annual CODAME ART+TECH Festival
Included in the Festival Pass and All Access Pass
ilithya and Eliza combine creative forces to create colorful shaders. They will be live-coding in the same editor, visuals refreshing in real time and chatting with the audience throughout. This livestream performance will be the premier launch of their new Twitch Channel.
The shader they code will be 2D, colorful, and inspired by optical illusion. They hope to showcase how much fun and approachable shaders can be — how infusing a few simple concepts into a couple of lines of code can yield some pretty intriguing and complex looking results that might even feel 3D!
Shaders are an amazing tool for creativity, but can seem intimidating and might feel like a very advanced topic, especially when you’re just starting out, or like them, are self-taught programmers with no academic background in Math or CS. In sharing their coding sessions, they hope to encourage and inspire others curious about shaders, to take a dive down the rabbit hole. Or just watch them having fun while they do!
All donations made during this performance will go to: CODE2040 — a nonprofit activating, connecting, and mobilizing the largest racial equity community in tech to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent the full participation and leadership of Black and Latinx technologists in the innovation economy.
ilithya’s work is also featured in the CODAME Shop and can be viewed in the CODAME New Art City Gallery.

Wonder why they say Music is Math? Let us show you how to join the worlds of open source code, math, and electronic music production. Continuing our music making adventures from the Beats for Beginners workshop, we will use a subset of the Javascript programming language to create live music in the browser.
