CODAME - Artist Content License Agreement
CODAME brings together artists, technologists, and curious humans to explore creative futures.
To empower this collaboration, we need clear, fair terms for using the creative works (“Content”) participants contribute.
By submitting Content to any CODAME event, exhibition, prototype, workshop, or interactive system, you (“Artist”) agree to the following.1. You Keep Ownership
You remain the full and exclusive owner of your Content.
Nothing in this Agreement transfers or sells your rights.
2. What CODAME Can Do With Your Work
2.1 Non-Commercial Use (Royalty-Free)
To organize events and celebrate creativity, CODAME may use your Content for free for:
exhibitions, installations, and showcases
documentation (photos, video, screen capture)
educational or community events
promotion of CODAME programs
digital or physical archives
festival communications and public materials
These uses help us run events, share the festival, and honor your work.
No royalties are paid for these non-commercial uses.
2.2 Commercial Use (Revenue-Share for Artists)
If CODAME uses your Content in commercial or revenue-generating ways, such as:
interactive or sensor-based digital experiences
subscription or usage-based systems
commercial exhibitions or activations
sales, editions, or licensing
paid partnerships or touring installations
you will receive compensation through the CODAME Artist Revenue Share Program, which forms part of this Agreement.
CODAME will always notify you before commercial deployment.
3. Permission to Adapt or Modify (Required for Installations)
To properly exhibit your work in immersive, interactive, or technical contexts, you allow CODAME to:
adjust size, format, or aspect ratio
crop or reframe when necessary
animate, re-encode, or reformat
adapt for projection mapping or spatial installation
enable generative, reactive, or sensor-based behavior
prepare versions compatible with CODAME’s technical systems
CODAME will make good-faith efforts to respect your artistic intent.
4. Attribution
CODAME will credit you wherever reasonably possible:
wall labels
programs
websites
digital listings
interactive system metadata (when technically feasible)
5. Your Assurances
You promise that:
you created the Content, or have the rights to use it
no part of it infringes the rights of others
any third-party materials (including AI assets) are properly licensed
you have full authority to grant these permissions
6. Indemnification
If someone claims your Content infringes their rights, you agree that CODAME is not responsible for that claim.
This protects CODAME from copyright disputes involving your submission.
7. Withdrawing or Changing Your Participation
You may ask CODAME to stop using your Content in future programs at any time.
However, CODAME may continue to:
keep historical documentation (photos, video, archives)
use promotional materials already published
allow versions already deployed in existing installations or systems to run until their cycle ends
This protects CODAME’s history, operations, and commitments.
8. No Confidentiality
Submissions are not confidential unless a separate NDA is signed.
9. Governing Law — Delaware
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Delaware, USA.
Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in Delaware courts.
This provides clarity, stability, and protections for everyone involved.
10. General Terms
CODAME may assign rights to affiliated nonprofits, partners, or successors.
If any part of this Agreement is invalidated, the rest remains valid.
This Agreement replaces all previous conversations about Content use.
Both parties agree to act in good faith.
By submitting Content, you acknowledge and agree to this Artist Content License Agreement.
