CODAME Featured Artist
Reza Ali is a computational designer and creative engineer who is interested in art, science, and entrepreneurship. He uses code to express himself visually, and creates tools and libraries to help others create by sharing his methodology.
Ali is the author of ofXUI, one of the most popular addons for openframeworks (an arts-engineering toolkit), POSSIBLE, an audio-visual VJ app for Deadmau5, and iCubist, an ipad app that augmented the Santa Barbara Museum of Art’s Analytic Cubist Exhibit. Reza has given presentations at Gigaom, Nokia Design, Google Data Arts Center, NIME (2010), and NIME (2011), GAFFTA, (2013), USF, and Stanford (2014). His work has been featured in two books, Visual Complexity by Manuel Lima and Generative Art by Matt Pearson and numerous times online at www.creativeapplications.net.
In 2010 Reza earned a Masters of Science in Multimedia Engineering (with a focus in Visual and Spatial Arts) from Media Arts and Technology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He hopes to change the world by making a difference in how people use technology, design products and experience new media art and entertainment.
